Charlene attended the New York College for Wholistic Health, Education and Research, graduating in August, 1999, obtained her New York State license in March, 2000 and her Colorado State license in May, 2010. She has worked in medical offices since 2000 treating patients with various types of soft tissue conditions. Her desire to help people lead their lives free from pain motivates her to treat meticulously and with compassion.
Her previous career as a legal secretary was very frustrating. Though she was fortunate to work for some wonderful attorneys, the job itself was too stressful and left her looking for something different to fulfill the need for peace in her life. Massage therapy provided that path.
She was influenced by chiropractors, who had helped her through her own physical issues from minor soft tissue injuries and scoliosis since her early 20s, and it was a chiropractor who suggested she look into massage therapy as a profession. So, it was no surprise that she worked for a chiropractor within months of being licensed in New York. During her education at the New Center (the early name of the college,) she learned that not only is massage a stress reliever, but it is a technique of healing for many issues. She looks to the cause and effect of the pain and dysfunction to undo the pain and restore better function.
She has become well-versed in the issues associated with celiac and the gluten-free lifestyle and knows ways to deal with the changes it requires. Her major symptom and drive to find healing was derived from suffering several kidney stone attacks. Though she and others like her are not free from the disease, they can live more comfortably.
